However, starting from March 2016, people entering visa-free countries need to apply for an electronic travel authorization eTA to enter Canada.
China is a visa country. Holders of Chinese passports entering Canada need to apply for a short-term visa; Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan are visa-free countries/regions. Holders of Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau passports do not need to apply for a visa, but they need to hold an electronic travel authorization eTA.
